Early Childhood Education

Creating a brighter future for our children

We focus on affordable ECE for under 5’s where we are committed to:

  • Accessible early childhood education for all enrolled tamariki.

  • Higher staff-to-child ratios to ensure quality engagements for tamariki

  • The living wage for kaiāwhina and extended pay parity for kaiako

ME Family Services ECE Fees – 2024

Aged 0-2: $6.10 per hour, per child

Aged 3-5: $6.10 per hour, per child (over 30 hours)

Under the existing government funding model, we will continue to offer:

Aged 3 – 5: 30 hours free

To ensure our service is affordable and accessible to all families we require parents to apply for Childcare Subsidy or Childcare Assistance online at the time of enrolment. If this is unsuccessful we will work with families to ensure their child has access to our ECE through ME Family Services.

Please talk to one of our Senior staff for guidance on fees and the application process.

Creating a brighter future for our children

We believe tamariki learn best in an environment that is positive, caring, nurturing and well organized with experiences that engage and motivate children. An environment that is rich and stimulating, where ideas are shared freely and there is enough resource and opportunities for learning everywhere.

We value and celebrate whānau, culture and our community. In line with our commitment to and acknowledgement of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, our philosophy is underpinned by the following pou: Ako, Whanaungatanga, Manaakitanga, Turangawaewae, Tino Rangatiratanga, Aroha, Mana & Tapu.

21 years ago she facilitated playgroups at the Māngere East Primary hall as the Early Childhood supervisor for the Māngere East Family Service Centre. Things have changed dramatically since then with a purpose built Early Childhood Centre and roll of 35 tamariki aged from birth to 5 years old.

In 2015 we celebrated the opening of our Early Childhood centre extension, which caters for a total of 75 tamariki and 12 kaiako. With increased numbers come a range of challenges however our philosophy remains the same … that all children be treated with understanding and respect and their need for education and care will be met in a safe and happy environment. Our aim is to set a sound foundation in the early years for future learning and development.
